ABOUT
Mayumi Okuyama is a jewelry artist and graphic designer based in São Paulo, Brazil. She holds a degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the University of São Paulo (FAU-USP) and a Master of Arts in Jewellery and Metal Arts from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
Her practice moves between graphic design and contemporary jewelry, where she explores the intersection of art, design, and literature. Through jewelry, she engages with materiality in a deeply personal and poetic way, translating impressions of the world around her into subtle, reflective forms.
Guided by minimalism, Okuyama’s work celebrates lightness and the essence of materials. Each piece resists mere ornamentation, instead offering a space for pause, observation, and quiet connection—a visual language that invites the viewer or wearer into a more contemplative experience.
She has exhibited in the United States, Europe, and South America. In 2024, her work was acquired by the Museum of Arts and Design in New York.
